Motivation to work out? I prefer the “panic method.” Sign up for an event where people expect you to be fit—like a 5K or your high school reunion. Nothing gets you to the gym faster than the fear of looking like a potato in front of people you haven’t seen in years. Also, buy expensive workout gear. If you drop $200 on sneakers, you will exercise, if only out of financial guilt.

MrJr, I ran into my high school crush at the gym. I am now motivated by sheer embarrassment))

The key to working out regularly is making it a habit, not just relying on motivation (because motivation will disappear). Start by setting small, realistic goals—if you’re new, commit to just 10 minutes a day. Track progress, even small wins, to stay motivated. Most importantly, find an activity you actually enjoy. If you hate running, don’t run. Try swimming, dancing, weightlifting—anything that makes you feel good. Having an accountability partner also helps tremendously—whether it’s a gym buddy, a trainer, or just someone who texts “GET UP AND MOVE” when you start making excuses. Consistency is what matters, even if it’s imperfect.

I tried the ‘10 minutes a day’ rule. After three days, I’m now fully committed to lying down
